Your role

Saab is looking to recruit a postdoc to within the scope of an application to the WASP foundation investigate solutions to the challenging environment our radars experience in maritime scenarios.

The aim of the project is to push the boundary for detector performance for slow and small targets in the presence of difficult sea clutter. The research contribution will on a high level be two-fold: • The development of novel detection algorithms with sound statistical properties, partially based on generative models from AI, partially on the model-based paradigm, that outperform classical signal processing and detectors in the presence of sea clutter.

Performance is compared to Gaussian and non-Gaussian, adaptive and non-adaptive, model-based, and modelless detectors. Comparisons will be fairly made, meaning that all detectors are constrained to the same computational budget. Evaluations for different budgets will be considered, and this will suggest computational hardware

The work will be carried out closely to our system design team working with the Giraffe 1X product.
